As UkraStud reaches the final stage of its 24-month implementation period, the project marks an important moment of reflection. From research and training to guidelines, cooperation, and dissemination, the initiative has brought together European and Ukrainian partners around a common objective: strengthening inclusion, well-being, and support for Ukrainian university students.
UkraStud began with three central ambitions: to define a model of inclusion for Ukrainian students, strengthen the skills of tutors and academic staff, and support the development and adoption of common inclusion guidelines. The final phase provides an opportunity to consider how these results can continue to be used.
UkraStud has been designed around resources that can remain useful beyond individual project activities. Its expected results include an operational research report, an online course for tutors, and guidelines and protocols for the inclusion of Ukrainian students in universities.
The online learning component has been developed as a substantial educational resource. The planned materials include 72 video-based learning units grouped into six modules, with more than 360 minutes of video content. The course was also designed for piloting with at least 120 participants and evaluation of the results.
The project’s final international congress in Padua represents an important milestone in this process. The event brings together 80 participants and 12 partner speakers and includes video recording, teaching materials, a sustainability plan, and a final project meeting.
Sustainability has been incorporated into UkraStud’s dissemination and cooperation strategy from the outset. The project aims to encourage organisations outside the consortium to use its results and to promote their transfer to other educational sectors.
The synergy strategy specifically considers schools, vocational education and training, adult education, youth, and sport. The methods and knowledge developed through UkraStud can provide a starting point for organisations seeking to strengthen support, participation, well-being, and social inclusion in different educational contexts.
The project has placed strong emphasis on making its results openly available through its communication channels and partner networks. Research and other outputs are intended to be disseminated openly through the project and partner promotional channels and made available through the official UkraStud website.
UkraStud closes its implementation period with a message that extends beyond the project itself: inclusive higher education requires cooperation, evidence, commitment, and continuous dialogue.
The partnership has created resources and opportunities for universities and educational stakeholders to strengthen their support for Ukrainian students. The next step is to ensure that these resources continue to circulate, inspire new initiatives, and contribute to more inclusive academic communities.
