The Guidelines focus on three closely connected dimensions of the university experience: social inclusion, the transition from university to employment, and psychological well-being. These areas reflect a broad understanding of inclusion, recognising that successful integration also involves social relationships, future career opportunities and emotional well-being.
The Guidelines are organised into three sets of recommendations, each containing six thematic areas and practical protocols. The first set addresses social inclusion, including socialisation, intercultural understanding, reducing stereotypes and prejudice, European identity and values, recreational activities, and student–teacher interaction. The second focuses on university-to-work transitions, covering active job searching, local language learning, workplace socialisation, flexible employment, internships and university–business cooperation. The third set addresses psychological support, including the identification of students at risk, access to psychological services, language barriers, family support at a distance, critical situations related to war, loss and disasters, and the promotion of students’ psychological well-being.
The development of the Guidelines was also co-created by focus groups with university tutors, helping the project partners further understand the needs and perspectives of those directly involved in supporting Ukrainian students. The resulting 54 practical guidelines are designed to provide universities and their staff with concrete, adaptable approaches that can be applied in everyday educational and support settings.
